The University Public Relations Office (UPRO)
The University Public Relations Office (UPRO) is a strategic communication arm of the Directorate of Media and Public Relations (DOPR) at the University of Duhok (UOD). UPRO is at the forefront of shaping and protecting the reputation of the University, serving as a bridge between UOD and its internal and external audiences.
To build and sustain public trust in UOD by sharing its vision, values, and achievements through transparent communication, stakeholder engagement, and compelling storytelling.
Education: Demonstrate the unique student experience offered by UOD across all levels of study.
Research: Promote ground-breaking research that solves real-world challenges and enhances lives.
People: Support recruitment and engagement of diverse, talented staff by showcasing UOD as a vibrant place to work and grow.
Engagement and Partnership: Amplify UOD’s impact through public engagement, knowledge exchange, and innovation.
UOD’s Future: Communicate the University’s growth, renewal, and fundraising strategies — embracing the spirit of 'One UOD'.
UPRO drives public understanding of UOD’s role as a centre of excellence in research, teaching, and innovation. Our office promotes:
Positive media coverage and global storytelling
Clear and compelling internal communications
Strong relationships with government, industry, alumni, and local communities
Protection and elevation of the University’s reputation
Public Relations is a strategic communication process that sets out to build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships between UOD and our stakeholders, nationally and Internationally.
UPRO’s structure comprises six expert teams dedicated to comprehensive communication and engagement:
Share University-wide news and major announcements globally.
Liaise with local and central government through the Government and Community Relations Officer.
Engage alumni with stories via Quad — UOD’s online and print magazine.
Promote impactful research in collaboration with divisions, Research Services, and UOD Innovation.
Highlight the role of research in driving global knowledge and societal solutions.
Lead corporate campaigns aligned with UOD strategic goals.
Manage the University’s main website, social media, videos, and digital storytelling.
Promote staff engagement and internal transparency.
Disseminate critical updates via all-staff emails, Staff Gateway, University Chat Spaces.
Support the internal Communications Community.
Oversee the UOD visual identity and brand use.
Produce key documents including Annual Review, Financial Reports, and Graduation Brochures.
Create brand assets and manage the shared image bank.
Design and deliver high-profile academic and institutional events.
Organise visits by dignitaries, lectures, and ceremonial functions.
Provide university-wide guidance on event planning and promotion.
