The University Marketing and Branding Office (UMBO)
The University Marketing and Branding Office (UMBO) is a key strategic division within the Directorate of Media and Public Relations (DOPR) at the University of Duhok (UOD). UMBO leads the implementation of UOD’s marketing and branding policies, ensuring that the University's image, messaging, and intellectual property are professionally managed, consistently presented, and globally respected.
To strengthen the reputation and visibility of the University of Duhok through cohesive branding, creative marketing strategies, and the protection of institutional identity.
UMBO plays a critical role in shaping how UOD is seen by its stakeholders, both locally and internationally. Our responsibilities include:
University Brand Management: Ensuring consistent use of UOD’s logo, colors, fonts, and visual identity in all digital and print communications.
Marketing Strategy Development: Designing and implementing marketing campaigns to promote UOD’s academic programs, initiatives, events, and achievements.
Graphic Standards Enforcement: Applying the University Graphic Standards Manual across all platforms to maintain visual integrity and institutional coherence.
Digital and Print Asset Production: Creating promotional materials including brochures, posters, banners, infographics, social media graphics, and branded merchandise.
Copy Integrity and Intellectual Property Oversight: Safeguarding the authenticity of all university messaging and protecting UOD’s intellectual property.
Collaborative Campaigns: Working with colleges, departments, and units to amplify outreach and ensure alignment with the University’s strategic goals.
UMBO’s work supports UOD’s long-term goals by:
Enhancing brand recognition at regional, national, and global levels
Supporting student recruitment, research visibility, and community engagement
Promoting institutional excellence through creative and consistent storytelling
Aligning communications with UOD’s Strategic Plan 2023–2038

UMBO maintains and updates UOD’s Visual Identity System. This includes:
Official logos and sub-brand architecture
Typography, color palette, and photography standards
Templates for presentations, reports, event banners, and letterhead
Planning and delivering multi-channel campaigns that highlight UOD's impact
Student recruitment drives (undergraduate, postgraduate, international)
Campaigns supporting major events, rankings, achievements, and initiatives
Video scripts, taglines, and messaging guidelines
Social media content creation
Printed collateral and digital promotional assets
Advising staff and departments on correct brand usage
Ensuring consistent application of brand identity across faculties, centers, and partner units
Registering and monitoring usage of UOD’s brand assets
Addressing issues of misuse or infringement
Ensuring copyright and authorship clarity in all public-facing materials
